LANCASTER, June 23, 2009 – Susquehanna Foundation for the Blind is proud to announce the creation of the Pauline W. Abel Society, honoring an ongoing dedication from Pauline “Polly” Abel to Susquehanna Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired (SABVI).

Polly is one of SABVI’s most honored volunteers, and director emeritus of SABVI’s Board of Directors. Supported by her late husband Jed and their three sons, she has given her time and talents to the Mission of the agency every day of her life for more than 35 years. This remarkable commitment has been driven by her deep belief in the core values of independence and full integration of people who are blind or vision impaired.

The Foundation invites members of the community to join the Foundation’s most honored donors by becoming a member of the Pauline W. Abel Society. Membership is extended to all those who notify the organization of having remembered the Foundation in their estate plan, or who pledge a planned gift to the Foundation.

The Susquehanna Foundation for the Blind is the fundraising arm of SABVI (headquartered in Lancaster, Pa.) and its divisions: Alley Center for the Blind (Lebanon, Pa.), Somerset County Blind Center (Somerset, Pa.) and Independence Industries (Northeast Philadelphia, Pa.)
